Are traditional family dinners indicative of a well-adjusted family?

Not necessarily according to a 2013 article from NPR. Journalist Alison Aubrey shares survey and research results from a variety of sources where participants agree that family meals are important but nearly half of the respondents don’t have regular family meals.

Students at Potomac Senior High School came together to host their annual Community Day event to benefit a late teacher. 

A portion of the proceeds made during Community Day will go to the family of Potomac history teacher, Leonard Valko, 47, who passed away earlier this year from a heart attack.


The Potomac Nationals expect to announce the naming rights sponsor of its planned $70 million stadium in Woodbridge by December.

The project is slated to be built across the street from Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center. The stadium’s naming sponsor as been a lynchpin in the entire deal, one that does not require any public monies to build the stadium.


A 22-year-old man was shot by police Wednesday.

Officers were called to a home in the 7600 block of Lake Drive near Manassas. The woman said her dog began barking at a man who was hiding in her bushes. The man left once seen, and the woman dialed 911.

Attempted Malicious Wounding – On September 19th at 2:18PM, officers responded to the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a fight with weapons. The victim, a 24 year old woman of Dumfries, reported to police that she and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in verbal altercation in front of the apartment complex building in the above area. During the encounter, the accused pulled out a knife and advanced towards the victim in a threatening manner. Other witnesses to the incident were able to separate both parties while police were contacted. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without further incident.
