WOODBRIDGE — As Prince William County’s population grows, so does the number of 911 calls handled by emergency dispatchers.

As the county quickly approaches nearly a half-million people, Director of Public Safety Communications Eddie Reyes said that not only is call the number of calls on the rise but adds the job is evolving with new smartphone technology.


Douglas “Doug” Taggart is running for the Republican nomination to be the next Potomac District Supervisor on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.

He will face fellow Republican Devon Gray in a “firehouse primary” election on May 4, 2019.


HAYMARKET — Route 15 (James Madison Highway) between Logmill Road (Route 701) and the Prince William/Loudoun county line will have overnight mobile lane closures Monday, April 29 for rumble strip installation along the shoulders. 

The mobile single-lane closures will occur along northbound and southbound Route 15 between 10 p.m. Monday night and 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Whatever you call it — a Republican Party canvass or “firehouse Primary,” a Special Election is set to take place in Prince William County on Saturday, May 4.

The Republican Canvas will take the place of a state-run primary and is designed to allow Republicans to select the nominees that will appear on the ballot in November.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Once a refuge for low and middle-income workers priced out of Alexandria and Arlington, Prince William County is currently struggling to meet its population’s affordable housing needs.

Nonprofit organization directors in the area confirmed that the community is in need of housing assistance beyond the scope of existing support systems. But with fewer affordable communities planned in the county and housing programs that are already filled to capacity, no clear solution is readily available.
