HAYMARKET – Tough Mudder Classic, an eight to 10-mile obstacle course adventure, is coming to Haymarket’s Silver Lake Park for the weekend of June 1 and 2.

According to Amanda Evertz, a Tough Mudder PR representative, the Silver Lake property was chosen because it has a varied terrain including open areas and woods trails.  It’s also a scenic property with a geographic location well-suited to the event.  Depending on the mud, it’s expected to be an exciting course.


With many years of experience as a teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools, Lisa Zargarpur wants the focus to be on student success and better funding in Prince William County.

She lives outside Manassas and is running for Prince William County School Board for the Coles District.


Heather Mitchell, currently a senior aide to Prince William County Board of Supervisors is running for the Virginia House of Delegates and is focused on transportation, education, and veterans.

Known in Republican circles for her support for gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidate Corey Stewart, this is Mitchell’s first time seeking statewide office.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Affordable housing’s future in Prince William County unclear amidst predicted federal funding cuts.

Federal subsidies for affordable housing are predicted to decline in the coming years. In Prince William County’s 2020 budget proposal, the county’s affordable housing needs are spelled out, but it remains unclear how demand will be met amidst rapid growth and change in the area.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The Prince William County Police Department recently established a Missing Persons Unit in order to better address missing persons cases.

The investigations of missing person cases have evolved over the years. In order to prioritize the handling of these cases, and to include the necessary resources in the event the need arises, the Police Department has consolidated all missing person investigations into this new unit.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Prince William County’s Parks and Recreation Department is inviting to join in the fun this summer by taking part in these upcoming events.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — A 17-year-old girl known only as “Jessica” is feared to be missing from a park near Manassas.

On May 20 at 9:20 p.m., officers were called to investigate a possible abduction that reportedly occurred in the area of Joseph D. Reading Park located at 8460 Maplewood Drive near Manassas sometime earlier that evening.
