After much public outcry and debate, Harry Wiggins won a political appointment to the Prince William County Service Authority.

Supervisors voted 6-2 Tuesday to appoint the controversial, former county Democratic Party Chairman as the at-large member of the county’s water and sewer authority.  The appointment to the high-profile, independent, non-political commission comes after Wiggins was fined by the Virginia State Board of Elections in 2018 after he founded a political action committee called Republicans for Stanley Bender, and then failing to register it with the state as required by law.


A popular game night will return to Bristow next month in an effort to raise money for adult literacy.

BEACON for Adult Literacy’s “Scrabble Scramble” features 35 tables, each with a team of four players, all who sit down to play two rounds of the word-making game. Teams play for prizes, eat pizza, and can participate in a raffle for items, including a $100 southwest airline gift card, salon gift cards, a gift basket from Chick-fil-A Bristow.

Prince William County press release |The Strategic Plan is the guiding document that outlines what the community would like the county to look like in four years. The plan, drawn up by citizen volunteers, aided by county staff, outlines a vision of how the county would support the identified strategic plan goals around human services, public safety, transportation, and other county services.

The Prince William County 2021-2024 Strategic Plan will guide budget decisions over the four years it will be in place, said the county’s Strategic Plan Coordinator, Kaye Wallace. “Every year, when we create our annual budget, we use the Strategic Plan to help determine where funding should be allocated.”


High school students are losing valuable time during their education because they’re tired, according to Benjamin Kim, a student representative on the Prince William County School Board.

Kim pushed for a later start time for high schoolers at the January 22 county School Board meeting. He cited both California and neighboring Fairfax County which both mandate schools begin classes after 8 a.m., he said.


Police in Prince William County say they’ve arrested a 15-year-old and charged him in a commercial burglary.

On Wednesday, January 29, officers were tipped off to a burglary at IDEAL Towing, located at 10619 Dumfries Road. They said the burglary occurred sometime between 5 p.m. January 27 and 6 p.m. January 28.


Couples will once again be married this year at the old Prince William County Courthouse as part of an annual Valentine’s Day marriage ceremony.
