This past winter, OmniRide was in the middle of a year-long transit study to find out if people would call for a ride and then be taken to an OmniRide local bus stop.

Then the coronavirus pandemic hit, and ridership across all OmniRide bus services plummeted. OmniRide officials are expected to ask for an extension of the study period at the next OmniRide Commissioners meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 3, at the OmniRide transit center at 14700 Potomac Mills Circle in Woodbridge.


A historic African-American church still hopes to rebuild after an arson in 2012.

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, located at 15008 Lee Highway in Gainesville was the scene of arson in 2012. Parishioners watched helplessly as the church was nearly reduced to ashes.


Voters in Prince William County will have eight places to cast their votes early.

To handle the expected crush of voters, starting Monday, October 19, eight satellite voter offices located across the county will be open for residents to cast their “absentee in-person” votes for the Nov 3, 2020 election:


At the end of this month, the Prince William County Board of Library Trustees will be no more.

The Board of County Supervisors voted to replace the trustees with a new, all-volunteer advisory board, which will report to the supervisors on library matters, participate in the hiring of a new library director if the position is vacant, as well as make policies governing the library.


Freedom Bank, based in Fairfax County, will open a new branch in the Balls Ford Road corridor in Prince William County, near Gainesville.
