Flames broke out at Auto City at 492 Cambridge Street (U.S. 1) in Stafford County at 4:56 p.m., prompting fire and rescue crews from more than six fire stations in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties, and Fredericksburg to come and help douse the blaze.


It happened while the man was traveling north on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge.

By 2:45 p.m., utility crews from Washington Gas completed their repair of a four-inch gas main that ruptured in the town center area of the Army base.

Residents, business owners and their employees have been allowed to return to the areas that were cordoned off about 11:30 a.m. Thursday.


Some OmniRide buses will now use 15th Street instead of congested 14th Street in Washington.

Passengers who take the commuter buses from the State Department weekday afternoons will be affected by the change, which will have all OmniRide buses re-routed away from 14th Street between H Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.


North Stafford, Va. –– Borders Books and Music at Stafford Marketplace will close its doors as part of a company reorganization.

Company officials today said they will file for Chapter 11 re-organizational relief as the company looks for new ways to reinvent itself for the long term.
