After word the long serving state senator would step down this year, the 84-year-old announced yesterday that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“I’m going to give it one more shot,” he said. “I talked to my family and a lot of my friends — I’ve gotten literally dozens of phone calls. I walked into McDonald’s and a man said, ‘I’ve been a Republican all my life and you’re my favorite Democrat. Don’t you dare quit.’ ” he told the Washington Post.

Company that operated fatal bus shut down
The company that operates the bus that crashed on Interstate 95 on Tuesday killing four people has been shut down after various violations against the company were noted, reports NBCWashington.com.
Contestants wrote a 300–400 word essay based on an annual patriotic theme, which was evaluated by veterans who have a deep personal connection with the idea of patriotism. This year students wrote an essay on the theme, “Does Patriotism Still Matter?”
Top national winners each receive a savings bond anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000. The first place winner receives a $10,000 savings bond and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. Scholarships are also awarded to students at the local level.

Triangle, Va. –– Fire and rescue crews are on the scene of a fully-involved house fire in Triangle.
Update 10 a.m. Wednesday
A motorcyclist was flown to an area hospital after he rear-ended a tractor trailer on Interstate 95.
Police and rescue crews were called to the area of I-95 and Joplin Road (Va. 619) in Triangle about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Area Veteran and military support organizations have conducted ceremonies and services to honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country for the past week.
Police were called over the weekend to the intersection of Widewater and Flippo roads, off Decatur Road in the Widewater section of Stafford County, where he saw two cars parked and a woman standing outside of the vehicles.
The deputy questioned the woman and those inside the car, and then spoke with a man who appeared to have bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and a smell of alcohol on his breath, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
