Officials Tuesday approved the Brooke Station Urban Development Area, which will center at least 870 new homes and 174,000 square feet of office space around Virginia Railway Express’ Brooke station east of Jefferson Davis Highway (U.S. 1).
The area will not be developed any time soon, however, county officials were mandated by the state to identify by July 1 areas in which urban growth will take place between the next 10 and 20 years.
The Nationals All-Star third baseman was relatively quiet at the plate and in the field. In the bottom of the first, Keys starter Ryoshei Tanaka got Zimmerman to strike out looking. The UVA product walked in the third, popped out to right in the fifth, and finished his evening with a groundout to short in the seventh. All totaled, Zimmerman went 0-3 with a walk in seven innings.

But his throw short hopped first and skipped away from Justin Bloxom. Zimmerman was charged with an error. But the 26-year-old made up for it three batters later. Kipp Schutz rolled a slow ground ball down the third base line. Zimmerman charged, gloved, and made a strong sidearm throw to first for the out. Those were the only two balls hit to Zimmerman on Wednesday night.

The victim in the case told police that she engaged in sexual activity with an employee of Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas while she was 17-year-old student at the school in 2004 and 2005.
The employee worked as an attendance officer and basketball coach, and some of the sex acts took place at the school while others took place in Prince William County, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

Investigators don’t know why the driver of a Toyota Camry lost control of his car and fatally collided with a school bus Tuesday.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid 90s, and heat index values will make it fell as hot as 105 degrees outside, according to the National Weather Service.
That has prompted a heat advisory for the area from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday.
