The ball clubs will play the remainder of Sunday’s game beginning at 5 p.m. and then play a seven-inning nightcap 30 minutes after the completion of Sunday’s suspended game.

The Blue Rocks jumped out to an early lead on Sunday with three runs off Potomac starter Danny Rosenbaum. Whit Merrifield led off the game with a triple to the wall in centerfield. After Carlo Testa popped out to first base, Nick Van Stratten singled Merrifield home. The big blow in the inning came when John Whittleman rocked a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right to make it 3-0 Rocks.


Woodbridge ,Va. –– The P-Nats dropped the series finale with the Dash 7-2 on Friday night at Pfitnzer Stadium. Despite the loss, Potomac took two out of three from Winston-Salem to win the set.

Nationals starter Cameron Selik had a bookend type of night. The righty struggled early and late during his outing, but was able to throw well in between. From the second through fifth inning, Selik didn’t give up a run and only allowed three hits.


A crash just south of Lorton snarled traffic between from the Occoquan River all the way to the Capital Beltway, and there are no signs traffic is easing as many commuters are making a break for the long holiday weekend.

The delays along the highway were so bad about 2 p.m. some drivers chose to drive off the highway, into a median and access the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes near Potomac Mills mall.


The Virginia Department of Transportation opened the new fourth lane of I-95 south today. Motorists will noticed shortened travel times on a six-mile stretch from Springfield to Occoquan just in time for holiday travelers on the Independence Day weekend. This lane is the last section of the I-95 Widening Project to open.

Robert Weed, who has offices in Manassas and Woodbridge, says he chose to open a Stafford office to not only be closer to his clients who already visit him in his Prince William County offices, but because the economic downturn has severely affected residents in the county.

“Stafford County, Va., has some of the longest commutes in America. So people in Stafford have been hit harder than most when gasoline hit four dollars a gallon,” Weed stated in his company blog. “Stafford also has a low average age–fifth lowest in Virginia. That low median age translates to mean, young families with children. The folks hardest hit when there’s a loss of income.”


Woodbridge, Va. –– The Potomac Nationals rode a dominant start from Paul Demny and a two-hit, two-run effort from series-clinching 4-2 win over the Winston-Salem Dash on a gorgeous Thursday night at Pfitzner Stadium.

With the win, the Nationals improved to 4-4 in the second half and set up a chance to earn their third series sweep of the season on Friday.


The county in April submitted plans to create three precincts and to shift five polling places within the county’s seven established magisterial districts that are used to elect members of the county’s Board of Supervisors and School Board.

Virginia, under the Voting Rights Act of 1964, must submit their redistricting plans done every 10 years to the Department of Justice for approval.
