The victim was running in the area of Windsong Way and Small Bear Ct., just off Stefaniga Road about just before 11 p.m., when a silver sedan passed him. He then saw the sedan turn around, turn off its headlights and drive toward him.

The victim heard an occupant of the car yell, and then the passenger brandished a handgun, put in the victim’s face and demanded money.


Lake Ridge, Va. — Right-turn makers rejoice: a new right turn lane from Springwoods Drive to Old Bridge Road has opened.

The new lane now allows drivers headed to Prince William Parkway the option to turn right immediately without having to wait in what was a center multi-directional turn lane, which can now only be used to continue straight or to turn left.


North Stafford, Va. — One person was treated for smoke inhalation Monday after a fire broke out in at their home.

Fire and rescue crews from the Potomac Hills and Aquia fire stations were called to a fire at 154 Olympic Drive at 2:45 a.m. Monday, just off U.S. 1 in North Stafford.


Triangle, Va. —One man is dead and a woman seriously injured after their car flipped over while traveling on Joplin Road.

According to police, one occupant died at the scene while another is being flown to an area hospital for treatment. Both were found trapped inside the car.


Dale City, Va. — After a man was found dead inside his home late Thursday, neighbors say more needs to be done to protect their community. Police are investigating it as a homicide.

“We have asked many times for a night security guard to watch over things here at night, but we’re always told that if we don’t like it we can leave,” said one resident outside the Dale City’s River Run Senior Apartments on Friday – the complex where the victim was found.


Jubair Ahmad, 24, a Pakistani native who since 2007 has lived in Woodbridge, is charged with providing material to support Lashkar-e-Tayyiba – a designated terror organization, as well as making false statements during an investigation, according to U.S. Eastern District of Virginia Attorney Neil McBride.

In September, Ahmad made a video and uploaded to YouTube showing conversations with operatives believed to be connected to the terror group, said McBride. After several video exchanges between suspected members of the group and Jubair, the final video showed Lashkar-e-Tayyiba’s leader, Hafiz Saeed, with trucks exploding after being hit with improvised explosive devices, said McBride.


Lorton, Va. — The Lorton Workhouse Arts Center is growing and some special guests will be able to find out how big the popular arts outpost will become.

An event on Saturday, Sept. 10 open to members of the Occoquan River Communities, will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. where they’ll be able to learn about the center’s expansion.
