Stafford, VA – On Wednesday December 28, 2011 at 9:16 PM, Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a reported structure fire at 371 Bethel Church Road. The first unit arrived on scene within 5 minutes, reporting fire throughout a single family dwelling. The firefighters initially operated in a defensive mode until the arrival of additional resources, at which time the attack mode transitioned to an offensive interior attack bringing the fire under control within 20 minutes. Firefighters conducted a search of the residence with negative results.

The home was not occupied and based on information obtained from the neighbors the home had been abandoned for several months. There were no injuries reported, the cause of the fire is under investigation and damage estimates are not available.


Triangle, Va. – A fire ripped through a Triangle home Tuesday night displacing two people.

Fire crews from the Dumfries-Triangle Volunteer Fire Department and Quantico Marine Corps Base at 10:45 p.m. were called to a home in the 18000 block of Chestnut Drive. Flames were seen shooting from the roof of the home as crews arrived, said fire officials.


Prince William and Dumfries police spotted a car belonging to a suspect in the burglary in the area of U.S. 1 and Old Triangle Road in Triangle about 1:40 p.m. Police stopped the car but the passenger fled on foot, according to police.

The driver was arrested, and then police searched for the suspect but were unable to find him. That’s when K-9 units were called in to track the suspect, whom they later found in a wooded area near a ravine off U.S. 1 north, which runs parallel to Old Triangle Road.

Lake Ridge, VA – The Woodbridge Rotary Club hosted their Annual Christmas Dinner for the children of the Prince William County / Manassas Boys & Girls Clubs.

The event was hosted at the Westminster at Lake Ridge retirement community. Over 100 youth between the ages of 5 and 14 were in attendance. The youth were from the Manassas, Hylton (Dale City), and General Heiser (Dumfries) Boys & Girls Club branches.


Deputy Cristina Torres of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office was recently selected as the recipient of the Rockhill Ruritan Club’s Law Enforcement Officer Rookie of the Year Award.

Deputy Torres graduated from the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy in December of 2010 and was assigned to the Patrol Division. Although Deputy Torres’s 6 month statistics rival many deputies’ yearly stats she is known for her outstanding attitude and impressive work ethic.


Quantico, Va. — A fire at Quantico on Tuesday sent a Marine to Washington Hospital Center’s Burn unit.

A storage facility at Camp Upshur caught fire about 1:16 p.m. prompting base fire crews to battle the blaze, said Quantico Marine Corps Base spokesman 1st Lt. Augustin Solivan.
