Fire and Rescue units from OWL VFD, Dale City VFD, and PWCDF&R, responded to the incident. The rapid attack and confinement of the fire held the majority of the damage to the basement. Two family pets were rescued from the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s office.

Unlike on Wednesday when classes at the school were canceled, students and staff of Ferry Farm will have class at 9 a.m. at Dixon Smith Middle School at 503 Deacon Road in Stafford County. Buses will run their regular routes, and students who normally get rides to school should be dropped off at Dixon Smith Middle School by 8:40 a.m.

The County’s Human Services Office worked with the Rural Health Initiative Team from McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond and the Mobile Vet Center Program, also based in Richmond, to bring their mobile vehicles to the Stafford Administration Center at 1300 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554. Specialists will be available January 17th, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., and January 18th, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

If enough interest is shown, both groups would consider regular visits to Stafford.

Lake Ridge, Va. – Despite overwhelming opposition, officials Tuesday night approved a land rezoning that will lead to the construction of an office building in Lake Ridge.

In a five to three vote, a portion of the three-acre parcel of land at the busy intersection of Old Bridge Road and Tanyard Hill Road – a commuter cut through route and an entrance to the Town of Occoquan – was rezoned from agricultural land to office use. The decision gives way to plans to build a 32,500 square foot office building on the site.
