DUMFRIES, Va. — Dumfries weathered the storm better than expected.
Police Chief Robert Forker said the major impacts in the town from Sandy were some downed tree branches and power outages in the Tripoli Heights neighborhood, where a tree branch fell on power lines and knocked out electricity to several homes. The outages are sporadic and crews are working to repair them.
STAFFORD, Va. — Twelve took shelter inside of a refuge set up by Stafford County officials during Sandy. Road crews are working to clean up, and the lake levels at they county’s two reservoirs are still below normal.

Officials are telling people to stay indoors and keep of area roads so crews can clean up storm damage. And for good reason, as many roads in Prince William County are simply impassable due to downed trees, wires, and high water. New information from Quantico Marine Corps Base indicates there is no damage to a high school gym at Quantico:
10 a.m.
Prince William County will close the Ferlazzo Shelter at 11 a.m. this morning. A total of 40 residents used the shelter last night.
