DUMFRIES, Va. — Dumfries weathered the storm better than expected.

Police Chief Robert Forker said the major impacts in the town from Sandy were some downed tree branches and power outages in the Tripoli Heights neighborhood, where a tree branch fell on power lines and knocked out electricity to several homes. The outages are sporadic and crews are working to repair them.


Officials are telling people to stay indoors and keep of area roads so crews can clean up storm damage. And for good reason, as many roads in Prince William County are simply impassable due to downed trees, wires, and high water.
