Stafford, VA – At an investiture ceremony held last night in the Board Chambers at the Stafford County Administration Center, newly-elected and reelected supervisors, constitutional officers and School Board members were installed in their offices.

Judge Charles S. Sharp of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit presided at the ceremony and administered the oaths of office. Taking the oath as newly-elected members of the Board of Supervisors were Jack R. Cavalier of the Griffis-Widewater District and Robert M. Thomas, Jr., of the George Washington District. Cavalier, who represented the district from 2000 to 2007, succeeds Bob Woodson, who did not seek reelection. Thomas succeeds Harry Crisp, who also declined to run for reelection. Supervisor Cord A. Sterling – who was reelected to the Rock Hill District seat he has held since 2008 – was also sworn in. Three of the four constitutional officers who took their oaths last night were reelected: Sheriff Charles E. Jett, Commissioner of the Revenue Scott Mayausky and Treasurer Laura M. Rudy.


Prince William County, Va. — Prince William County on Monday night held a swearing-in ceremony for members of the county Board of Supervisors, Sheriff’s office, and other elected positions, at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.

Stafford, Va. — As Stafford’s Board of Supervisor’s Chairman prepares to head to Richmond next month for his new job as Delegate, there is talk about changing the make-up of county’s Board of Supervisors.

Del. –Elect Mark Dudenhefer (R-Stafford, Woodbridge) was elected in November to serve in Richmond when the General Assembly convenes Jan. 13. That will leave open not only the Garrisonville District Supervisor’s seat but also the title of Chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors.


North Stafford, Va. — As Del.-Elect Mark Dudenhefer (R-2, Stafford, Woodbridge) prepares for his new job in Richmond, Stafford County officials must appoint someone new to fill his Board of Supervisors seat.

Dudenhefer, who has served as Chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors since 2010 and on the Board since 2005, chaired his final meeting Tuesday night. Now the Board must appoint a new Supervisor to the Garrisonville District in North Stafford.


Virginia’s General Assembly reconvenes in Richmond Jan. 12 11 for 60 days, and both state senators and delegates want to hear from residents about their concerns. Legislators will also share information about the upcoming session.

As of Wednesday, Sen. George Barker (D-39, Alexandria, Fairfax, Prince William), Del. Richard Anderson (R-51, Prince William), Del. Luke Torian, D-52, Dumfries, Occoquan, Woodbridge) Del. Scott Lingamfelter (R-31, Woodbridge) and Del. Elect Mark Dudenhefer (R-2, Stafford, Woodbridge) have confirmed they attend the meeting,.


Stafford, Va. — The first African American elected to the Stafford County Board of Supervisors ended his term Tuesday night amidst controversy.

Robert “Bob” Woodson who’s represented the Griffis-Widewater District in North Stafford since 2008 left the Board Chambers without the approval of two fellow supervisors, Aquia District Supervisor Paul Milde and Rock Hill District Supervisor Cord Sterling.


Stafford, Va. — Changes are coming to the Stafford County Board of Supervisors, and some outgoing Board members on Tuesday will be commended.

Board Chairman and Garrisonville District Supervisor Mark Dudenhefer (R), Griffis-Widewater District Supervisor Bob Woodson (D), and George Washington District Supervisor Harry Crisp (D), all be out at the end of the month. Crisp and Woodson chose not to run for reelection and will see their terms expire Dec. 31. Dudenhefer was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates to represent the 2nd District which includes portions of eastern Prince William and Stafford counties.


Congressman Gerry Connolly said the unemployment rate in both Fairfax and Prince William Counties dropped again in October, a sign that Northern Virginia’s economy remains strong.

The latest statistics from the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) show the unemployment rate for Fairfax County in October was 4.2 percent, down from 4.6 percent in September.


Stafford County, Va. –– For the first time in over a decade, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors will appoint a new member.

Board Chairman Mark Dudenhefer is leaving for his new job in Virginia’s House of Delegates, representing residents in Prince William and Stafford counties in Virginia’s 2nd House District. He’ll step down from the board Dec. 31 in time for the next session of the General Assembly in Richmond on Jan. 12.


Prince William County, Va. — While the holidays are on the minds of many area residents, it won’t be long until state legislators head back to Richmond to convene the 2012 General Assembly on Jan. 12. The annual meeting of the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate, the primary lawmaking bodies in the state, each year introduce new legislation that, if ultimately passed, is signed into law by the governor.
