DALE CITY, Va. — Dale City Elementary School and about eight to 10 residents on Brooke Drive in Dale City are without water after an 8-inch main burst.
The water main break was reported just after 9:30 a.m. Friday.
DUMFRIES, Va. — With fall on the doorstep, Dumfries will ring in the post-summer season this weekend at Garrison Park behind Town Hall.
The town’s annual Fall Festival begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and goes until 5 p.m. Festival-goers can expect plenty of wine tastings, music, a talent competition, food, and arts and crafts, and product vendors at the fair.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — New life is being breathed into the rides of many commuters.
A total of 61 OmniRide commuter buses are in the process of being overhauled. The transit agency is nearing the halfway point of the project with the 29th bus completed last month, and the 30th bus that needs an overhaul is ready to be placed in the shop.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Funeral services for Woodbridge Occoquan Lorton VFD Fire Chief Richard Arrington will be held Saturday, and local roads will be impacted by a funeral procession.
After the ceremony at First Baptist Church on at Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road in Woodbridge at noon, a motorcade will leave the church for Fairfax County.
QUANTICO, Va. — Officials at Quantico Maine Corps Base gave the all-clear late Thursday night after someone claimed to have spotted a man with a gun on base.
The reported gunman was said to be near the child development center on base. Marines were sent to check out the situation and the child development center, and Quantico Middle/High School was placed on lockdown, according to a Quantico spokesman.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge will collect donations for the Fort Belvoir Fisher House as part of series of events honoring the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City and Virginia.
Between now and Sept. 14, the park will collect donations for the center that provides a “home away from home” for military families while visiting a loved one in the care of the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, according to a press release from Virginia State Parks.

During their response the ECC advised a male patient had jumped from the Chatham Bridge into the river.
Upon arrival Stafford County Fire and Rescue personnel located a male patient near the Stafford Shore. The patient was immobilized, lifted to the Chatham Bridge and transported to Mary Washington Hospital
