DUMFRIES, Va. — Businessman and U.S. Marine Derrick Wood has been elected to the Dumfries Town Council.
Wood was a write-in candidate competing against two others, including incumbent Dumfries Town Council member Louis Parino whose name was not on the ballot.

QUANTICO, Va. — A special service honoring military veterans will be held at Quantico National Cemetery on Sunday.
At least 800 people are expected to converge on the cemetery grounds off Joplin Road in Triangle for a ceremony featuring the Marine Corps Band.

Election Day is perhaps the greatest expression of our democracy. I would like to thank each and every person that made it to the polls on Tuesday to cast their vote. As many of you know firsthand, there were excessively long lines at several Woodbridge voting locations. As I went from precinct to precinct, I was amazed and uplifted by the positive, patient, and determined citizens waiting in line, as well as the hardworking and empathetic Election Day volunteers.
