I had lunch with Occoquan Town Mayor Earnie Porta a couple of weeks ago. We talked about Trails. Earnie is also the Treasurer of Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition and an advocate of improving trail connectivity in Prince William County.

Police in the tiny town shut down a portion of Va. 55 for a street fair between 1 and 6 p.m. Saturday featuring a rock climbing wall, food, cold drinks, and several vendors.

DUMFRIES, Va. — Something’s not right with the signal light at Va. 234 and U.S. 1 in Dumfries.
According to a notice from the Dumfries Business Association, town authorities are looking into why the signal light at the busy intersection is randomly flashing yellow at various points during the day.

Aden Road is closed to traffic this late afternoon. Neighbors who have lived along the rural roadway say this is the worst flooding they’ve seen in the area in five years.
HAYMARKET, Va. — Despite the rainy weather as of late, organizers of this weekends Stars and Stripes Festival in Haymarket said the show will go on.
The festival is billed as one of the smaller events held in the town each year, attracting 6,000 people.
HAYMARKET, Va. — Coach Kurt Pauly of Battlefield High School in Haymarket slam dunked the competition to be named this year’s Boys’ High School Basketball Coach of the Year. The competition is hosted by WUSA-TV in Washington.
Pauly, along with nine other coaches, competed for votes from fans in order to win the contest, which was presented by Central Michigan University- Global Campus.
