DALE CITY, Va. — Water has been restored to some 200 customers in Dale City who lost it Sunday night, and we now know more about the cause of the problem.
The break was caused by rusted bonnet bolts that, when working properly, provide a leak-proof enclosure for the water value on the main. The main that ruptured Sunday night on Catalpa Court in Dale City was 12-inches wide, said Virginia American Water spokeswoman Samantha Villegas.
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A suspicious package at IKEA Tuesday morning prompted customers to go elsewhere, and it led to a free lunch for employees.
A clothes hamper was found in the 2-story furniture store at Potomac Mills mall about 9:30 a.m. The store called police who spent the better portion of the next two hours investigating the hamper, which turned out to be harmless.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — Plans for a Fredericksburg bypass show drivers would be able to exit Interstate 95 in Stafford County, cross the Rappahannock River, and end up in Orange County.
Once off I-95, drivers would connect with the new bypass via U.S. 17 near the Celebrate Virginia complex in Stafford County, head south on a planned Berea Parkway, cross the Rappahannock into the Culpeper County, and then exit the bypass at a terminus near Va. 20 in Orange County.
Helen Gertrude Liming Gibson, 82, of Stafford County, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at her home.
Mrs. Gibson grew up in the Joplin Community in Prince William County. During her adult life she made her home in Stafford, raising 10 children. She worked for the Free Lance Star as a carrier for more than 20 years where she enjoyed serving her customers and friends. She was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church. She was the treasurer for UMW for many years. Through her service in the church, she touched many in her community of Widewater.
Robert Edward Furr, 63 of Stafford passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Stafford Hospital.
He was an Operations Manager and Chief Engineer for ManuLife Financial Company in Washington D.C., where he worked for 28 years. He was the recipient of the Engineer Excellence Award from Boland Services.
David Bryan Lee, 45, passed away August, 7, 2013. David was born in Prince William County on July 19, 1968.
He leaves behind his mother and father, Jill and Charles Lee (Triangle , VA) ; his brother, Jeff and his wife Debbie Lee (Triangle , VA) ; his grandmother, Beryl Duvall (Woodbridge, VA) ; his uncles, John Duvall (DC) and Mike Lee (Triangle , VA) ; nephews, Jeff, Jr (Manassas) and Colton Lee (Triangle, VA) ; niece, Lauren Lee (VA Beach) ; his aunt and uncle, Gail and Tom Brown (Point Harbor, NC); step daughter, Sierra Shelton (Stafford, VA) ; step son, Chris Tassi (TX);cousins, Jonathan Brown (Point Harbor, NC), Cody Crenshaw (Triangle, VA) and many family members and friends in NC and LA.
Trevor Austin Blake, a strong brave boy received his wings Sunday August 11, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Trevor has moved on to fulfill his mission of watching over all of us and all the children faced with this awful disease. Betty Rose Mann, 71, of Herndon, Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at her residence.
She was born on September 13, 1941 the daughter of the late Charlie J. and Nora Lee (Mayes) Knowles. She was the widow of Albert Leroy Mann.
