MANASSAS, Va. — Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) will begin to accept donations for its new thrift store, Save ‘N’ Serve, on Sept. 3, in anticipation of its opening the week of Sept. 16.

The store is located at 10360 Portsmouth Road, Manassas, in the same shopping center as Family Christian Stores and Toys”R”Us on Sudley Road.

DALE CITY, Va. — A water tank in Dale City is getting a face lift.

The Packard Water Tank on Gideon Drive in the Ashdale section of Dale City will be repainted for the first time since 1999. With corrosion on its roof, Virginia American Water — which owns and maintains the tank — will also replace it at the same time the paint job is completed.

MANASSAS, Va. — Anthony Pearson’s level of play imitates that of Paul George, a small forward from the Indiana Pacers.

He can shoot the long and medium jumper and has tremendously increased his hustle on the defensive side of the ball. If you were to attend one of his games, you may notice that his rebounding may set him apart from some of the others. He can’t be packaged any better as a basketball player, according to his coaches.

Construction crews will close all but one lane in each direction on U.S. 29 and Linton Hall Road. It’s a busy intersection near Interstate 66 that draws not only cars and trucks, but it also has a busy street-level railroad crossing.

I spend a lot of time on this blog talking about my own feelings about the Farmer’s Market—what it means to me and why I feel it’s an important aspect of the community. So this morning, I decided to take to the streets with a clipboard and ask some strangers shopping at the market why they choose to shop at the City of Manassas Farmer’s Market.
