Meada F. Pearson, 81 of Woodbridge, passed away on September 13, 2013 at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her previous husbands, Gene Gerard, and Ashton Shifflett; sisters, Iva Lohr, Amanda Graham, Georgia Fair, and Annie Eckard; brothers, Sam Eckard, Paul Echkard, and Darlow Eckard. She is survived by her husband, Robert Pearson; her children, Nancy Cornwell (Denny), Mary Lou Thompson (Danny), Bubby Shifflett (Rita), Doris Shifflett, and Betty Passman; step-children, Robert Pearson (Wendy), Brian Pearson, and Cindy Pearson; 16 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary Lohr.

Sarah Cross Wood, 92, of Lake Ridge died peacefully on August 20, 2013 at Westminster at Lake Ridge Health Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Cross LaVersa of Raleigh, NC; her granddaughter, Amanda Diane Cross of San Francisco; three stepdaughters, Ann Mische of Nellysford, VA, Katherine Wood Turner of Falls Church, VA and Debbie Wood of Kannapolis, NC and two step-granddaughters, Carolyn Mische Hoeges of Alexandria, VA and Alyssa Mische Alfaleet of Houston, TX.


Obituaries

CALVIN J. “PAP” O’DELL left his earthly family and friends for his Heavenly eternal home on Saturday, September 14, 2013. He passed in his home surrounded by his family and is now free from pain and struggles rejoicing with family and loved ones gone on before.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend Norma O’Dell in February 2009 and his son in-law Brian Powell in August 2009. Also preceding him were two sisters and three brothers.

MARY AUGUSTINE “GUSSIE” CORNWELL age 88 passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at her home in Manassas, VA.

She was born on February 1, 1925 in Glasgow, Kentucky to the late Robert and Della (Jackson) Mizell. Mrs. Cornwell along with her late husband Emory were the founders of Cornwell’s Texaco in Manassas, a business which has operated for over 59 years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping, music and loved her family.
