A church congregation will move from Stafford County to Dumfries, and it will worship inside of a commercial building.
The Dumfries Town Council approved a conditional use permit, or CUP, for the Grass Roots Christian Fellowship church who will become the newest tenant of the Elwey Center building on U.S. 1. The special permit was required because, prior to the Council’s vote, the building was zoned for business use only.
The Stafford County School Board has released their meeting and activity schedules for the month of February.
There are two expected meetings with the School Board for February, as well as several Advisory Committee meetings.

Someone inside the school pulled a fire alarm prompting the fire and rescue response, said Prince William fire and rescue spokesman Curt Brodie.
Willie J. Toney announced this past weekend that he will seek the mayor’s chair on the Dumfries Town Council.
Toney, a Democrat, currently serves as the town’s Vice Mayor and is looking to unseat the man he sits next to on the council dais, Republican Mayor Jerry Foreman, who is also seeking reelection.
All travelers on Rt. 17 in Stafford during February 4 to February 6 should expect a five to ten minute delay overnight, while utility workers lift cables through the traffic lanes.
Travel lanes going North and South will remain open, but the flow of traffic will be stopped intermittently, while the cables are being lifted.
Due to the recent storms and inclement weather, Stafford County Public Schools has modified their calendar to make up for the missed days for the 2013-2014 school year.
Currently the county has a negative balance of 1.24 days, which is based upon the state requirements for public school attendance.
