· Good morning – The Manassas Department of Family Services has a special request of food donations for homeless individuals. These folks do not have the ability to cook or prepare meals as we do at home so items needed include tuna and chicken in pouches, pop-top fruits, cup of soup where you pour the hot water over and let it sit, trail mixes, hand wipes and other fun things you come across in the grocery store. Please drop off your donations at Family Services- 9324 West Street Manassas during traditional business hours of 8:30-4:30pm.

· Hey teens age 16yrs. And older – SERVE in Manassas has the perfect way to start your summer volunteering. They have an urgent need for help with inventory at the Thrift Store on June 24th from 8am-noon. It’s the end of their fiscal year so this is a very important task at hand. Zoey Moonbeam Wahl

Zoey Moonbeam Wahl, 4, of Seattle, WA and Woodbridge, VA died on May 31st, 2014. Zoey was born on January 25, 2010 in Virginia. She is survived by her mother, April, Joe Gleason, and her father Mark Wahl. She is also survived by her grandparents, as well as great grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins. Zoey touched the lives of all that knew her through her contagious smile and loving spirit. She always found a way to surprise us, as in her own first sentence “Oh shit, marshmallows!

A barbeque and celebration of Zoey’s life will be held in Woodbridge, VA at her Dad’s house at a later date. An online memorial has been initiated for Zoey by Daddy Joe, found at ZoeyMoonbeam.com. Please continue to visit the website, as it will be developed and curated on an ongoing basis. Friends and family are encouraged to share their stories of Zoey on the website.

This year, VRE trains will once again bring passengers from Virginia to Washington’s Union Station so they can attend the National Mall Independence Day Celebration, which offers the area’s most spectacular fireworks show, or A Capitol Fourth concert to be held on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol.

Boswells Corner Road Work Ramps Up, Residents say Flooding at Homes Persists

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A new bridge on Telegraph Road means drivers can get to work faster, and it has also led to more flooding at homes along the two-lane road.

Each time it rains, homeowners say water rushes into yards located next to a new bridge that carries drivers on Telegraph Road in North Stafford’s Boswell’s Corner from U.S. 1 to the large Russell-Knox Building on Quantico Marine Corps Base. The reconstructed bridge opened in March after being closed for nine months. It was rebuilt to accommodate new high occupancy toll lanes on Interstate 95 that runs beneath it.
