DALE CITY, Va. – On August 23, a 911 caller told police that they heard several gun shots in the area and once police arrived, they discovered shell casings in front of an apartment complex. According to the report, police further discovered evidence possibly caused by stray bullets but there were no injuries, other damages to property, or suspects found.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — It was always a possibility that one day the bus which carries commuters from Woodbridge to Tysons Corner could stop running. Not because it ran out of gas, but money.

The Tysons OmniRide bus, which provides commuter service along the newly opened 495 Express Lanes, is poised to cease when Virginia pulls funding for service. The bus started running in 2009 at the height of construction on the 495 Express Lanes on the Capital Beltway. The idea was to take more people off the highways, and the state picked up the tab.

DALE CITY, Va. – On August 24, 7-Eleven employees told police that two men entered the store and tried to steal two cases of beer. According to the report, an employee tried to stop them but was assaulted by the two men, one of whom said he had a knife. Police are seeking suspects.

DUMFRIES, Va. — A new community garden has been built in Dumfries. Want a garden plot? Well, first you have to know the rules.

The Town Council had a look at the new rules for the garden – all 24 of them that outline how big each plot should be, how you shouldn’t steal vegetables from other people’s plots, and how community gardeners are expected to attend regular garden club meetings and workshops.

William A. “Tony” Thrall, 72, of Dumfries, VA passed away at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center on August 24, 2014.

Tony was born in Washington D.C. on September 10, 1941, to the late James and Mary Thrall. He grew up in Arlington, VA and spent many days with family in the Northern Neck where he grew to know and love the water and boating in particular.

Police arrested the man wanted in connection to a man who was shot outside a McDonalds restaurant Monday night. They found him in the Montclair neighborhood of Prince William County: 

On August 26, police found and arrested the male suspect accused of shooting a man in the face and carjacking a driver. The female suspect, identified by police as an accomplice, turned herself into police later on that evening.

We’re getting closer to the opening of the 95 Express Lanes.

The new lanes will carry drivers from Garrisonville Road in North Stafford to Edsall Road in Alexandria, allowing vehicles with three or more occupants to ride free while single drivers will be able to pay a toll to avoid traffic congestion.
