Volunteers packed nearly 90,000 meals for the poor during the House of Mercy’s fourth annual “Campaign to End Hunger” fundraiser and meal-packing event, Oct. 18 at the Manassas Park Community Center.

Join Roadside Development for the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center on Nov. The event begins at 6 pm with a 20 minute performance by Those Funny Little People following by the official lighting of the tree at approximately 6:25.

The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, Virginia will open its galleries and studios for extended hours on Black Friday, Nov. 28, from 10am-7pm, offering a free, fun and festive alternative to a day at the mall. Instead of standing in lines, come and explore the art work of nearly 100 of the area’s most prominent  artists; participate in interactive demonstrations; and find unique artisan gifts—all while supporting local artists in your community.

Six people have been killed this year in Prince William County, the same number of people who were murdered last year in the county.

The early Sunday morning shooting death of 19-year-old Christopher Nathaniel Weaver was the sixth this year in Prince William. It came less than a week after the shooting death of 16-year-old Brenden Wilson who was shot and killed outside Woodbridge Senior High School.
