Stafford residents were clear: they want more high-end retail stores and restaurants in their county.
Stores like Macy’s, Jos A. Bank, L.L. Bean and restaurants like Maggiano’s Little Italy were just some of the names tossed out by residents. Those same residents said they commute to work for too long each weekday on Interstate 95 only to have to drive to places outside the county like Fredericksburg, Woodbridge and Tysons Corner to reach their favorite shopping destinations.

Ilka Chavez resigned her seat on the Manassas City School Board last night.
The school board member was first elected to the position in 2012 and was to complete her term in 2016. Chavez said her decision to step down was a personal one that “is in the best interest of her family.”
The Board of Directors of Potomac Health Foundation announced Susie Lee as its new executive director. As executive director, Ms. Lee will provide oversight of the Foundation’s grant making and operations and lead the Foundation in a strategic planning process. Susie Lee was previously Director of Grant Programs at the Foundation.
Ms. Lee brings more than 16 years of public health experience to the position. She has worked at the local, national, and international levels managing public health programs and monitoring grants to ensure effective implementation and improved health outcomes. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Public Health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.

Gas for $1.99 – are they out of their minds?
Not in North Stafford where the price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas fell below $2 on Tuesday. That’s a drop considering six months ago the price for the same was $3.55 in the same neighborhood, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Fuel Price Finder.
