Motorists will encounter brief travel delays tomorrow at the intersection of Route 3, Elys Ford Road, and Old Plank Road in Spotsylvania County as work crews install new traffic signal equipment.
Weather permitting, work will be underway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The intersection will remain open to traffic, however, the traffic signal will be out of operation and law enforcement officials will provide traffic control. Motorists are asked to stay alert, reduce their speed, and follow law enforcement direction at the scene.

I am taking this opportunity to announce that after 37 years of service to Stafford County, in the most rewarding career I could have imagined, I have decided to retire at the end of my term in December of this year.
The Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board (R-Board) will hold a special meeting today at 2:30p.m. to address the controversial fees now being charged to Stafford County and City of Fredericksburg residents for landfill use.
For residents attempting to drop off waste at their area landfills, they can expect to pay up to $12 per truckload, or opt for a $100 annual pass.
The public is invited to attend a design public hearing for proposed intersection improvements at Route 606 (Ferry Road) from Route 3 to Mount Vernon Avenue in Stafford County.

Attorneys are missing several key pieces of evidence, and that triggered a delay in the arraignment of 22-year-old John Nathaniel Sherwood.
Sherwood is charged in the murder of his 21-year-old wife Erica Renae Sherwood, of Triangle. She was killed during the early morning hours of New Year’s Day and leaves behind two children.
