The Prince William police responded to a call on Monday evening in Dumfries to investigate an assault.

According to a Prince William police release, the victim of the assault, a 30-year old Woodbridge woman, said that one suspect, who was a friend, approached her car that was parked in front of a residence.

The woman who let Erica Sherwood take shelter in her home just days before her death thought she was pregnant.

Sharae Harris took a witness stand April 2 to describe the murder of Erica Sherwood, a 21-year-old woman she called a friend for 10 years. Sherwood was killed inside the Dale City home Harris lived at with her young son and mother. Sherwood died at the hands of her 22-year-old husband John on in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, according to police.

At 1 p.m., several buildings in the Washington D.C. area went dark due to a power outage.

The outages caused afternoon delays for several commuters, and the residual effects from the outage may make it difficult for Prince William, Manassas, and Stafford residents to get home this evening.

The first ever Government Island photo contest, called “Picturing Government Island,” just concluded. The contest, run by Tour Stafford Virginia via their Facebook page, features five winners.

The photo contest was judged by photographer Buddy Secor of Ninja Pix and historian Jane Conner, who is the author of book about Government Island called “Birthstone of the White House and Capitol.”

Team Power Kix, based in North Stafford, gave impressive performances at multiple events in the U.S. and Mexico.

First, they competed in the 2015 US Open TaeKwonDo Championships in Orlando, Florida this past January. Over 2000 athletes from more than 15 countries competed at this event, according to a press release.
