When I was a child, the woods behind Andrew Leitch Park in Dale City provided a great escape from the real world of a 9-year-old boy.

My imagination ran wild in those woods. We went hiking, used rope swings to cross a creek, built forts and treehouses, and always watched in despair when the creek flooded and washed them away. The fun part was building them all again.

Reverend Tony D. Boone, Pastor of First African Methodist Episcopal Church in Manassas will lead a prayer vigil for Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Charleston, S.C., the victims of the Emanuel shooting and their families on today, June 18, 2015 at 7:30 pm.

The prayer vigil will take place at First AME Church located at 10313 South Grant Avenue.

In the early morning on June 16, Prince William police were conducting a routine check at a Days Inn location on New Market Court in Manassas when they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from one of the rooms.

Prince William police entered the room and found a handgun and a substance they suspected to be crack cocaine.

This morning, Prince William police responded to a CVS store location on 13600 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge to investigate a sexual assault.

According to Prince William police, the victim – a 73-year old Woodbridge woman – stated that she was cleaning out her vehicle in the CVS parking lot, when she was approached by an unknown individual.

Starting at the end of June, there will be purple lane striping added to the entry points on 495 and 95 Express Lanes.

According to a release from Transurban, the company that owns and operates the lanes, the new stripes will be added to the inside of the existing stripes at entry points.
