Good morning  – here’s a huge CHEERS to the Prince William Bar Association for sponsoring the Wills for Veterans program. The Bar Association is looking for vets needing Wills, Power of Attorneys and Medical Directives to come to their information sessions to receive this free service. The first session is September 19th, the second session is October 3rd and then you’ll receive your docs on October 24th. · Historic Manassas, Inc. is gearing up for two of their signature events. Volunteers are needed for their Bands, Brews & BBQ on September 12th and the Fall Jubilee on October 3rd. These are both super fun community events in Old Town Manassas. Obituaries

Vanessa Darden Boone, 61, passed away on Monday afternoon, August 10, 2015, at her home in Leesburg, VA with family and friends at her bedside. Vanessa was born on October 11, 1953 in Newport News, VA to the late Kelly M. Darden, Sr. and Nessa Faltz Darden.

Vanessa retired at the rank of Major from the U.S. Air Force in 1995 after 20 years of honorable service. After retiring from the Air Force, Vanessa was employed as a Systems and Project Engineer for Lockheed Martin Corp thru 2010, and the SI Organization from 2010 thru 2013. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics in 1975 from the University of Virginia (UVA), in Charlottesville, VA; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from Strayer University in 1997; and two Master of Arts Degrees from Webster University in Management and Public Administration (1981) and in Computer Resources and Information Management (1995 – Distinguished Graduate). Vanessa graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Newport News, VA as Valedictorian of her class in 1971.

The Lake Ridge Moms Club Open House is Thursday, September 3 at 7:30pm in the Tall Oaks Community Center (12298 Cotton Mill Dr. Wood bridge, VA). The Lake Ridge Moms Club is open to all moms, even if you don’t live in Lake Ridge. We have monthly general meetings with themes and activities on the first Thursday of each month, monthly Moms Night Outs, weekly playgroups, community service opportunities, family gatherings and holiday parties, and a babysitting co-op. Please come out and meet some new ladies for a fun night with light refreshments and amazing raffle prizes.
