Washington Gas spokesman Jim Monroe spoke to us about the ongoing work in Marumsco Hills, and about a town hall meeting held to address concerns after the February 7 explosion at a home on Franklin Street.

Senator Jeremy McPike held the town hall meeting, and on Monday told Potomac Local some residents called Washington Gas to report the smell of natural gas before the explosion. The comments come on the heels of an investigation by the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department, Washington Gas, and Virginia State Corporation Commission.

This car had wheels on it when the driver parked it in a Woodbridge commuter lot.

Commuter David Snead returned to the Horner Road commuter lot Friday evening to find silver sedan missing all four tires and rims. A cinderblock appeared to have been placed underneath the car for support while the thieves did their dirty work.

On Monday, February 22 and Wednesday, February 24, Mayfield Intermediate School will host a School Board Meeting and redistricting presentation from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Monday meeting will focus on students from pre-k to fourth grade while the Wednesday meeting will focus on students in fifth and sixth grade. The city school division has been working on redistricting, particularly within elementary schools.

One of the 12 Centennial Challenge grants has been awarded to Manassas National Battlefield Park.

The Centennial Challenge is a nation-wide effort of the National Park Service to provide funding for park projects and programs in conjunction with park partner organizations, explained the chief of interpretation and cultural resources management Ray Brown.

March events at the Manassas Museum include two new exhibits, free book talks and more.

From March 4 – April 17, the Manassas Museum presents “Impressions”, the Osbourn High School art show.  Impressions features the paintings, mixed media works, sculpture, and drawings of Osbourn art students.  The exhibit offers students the opportunity to be guest curators, as they choose works to be displayed, create frames or mounts, and write descriptive labels for their works.
