From Prince William police: 

Attempted Armed Robbery – On March 2 at 9:10AM, officers responded to the Family Dollar located at 13975 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. An employee reported to police that an unknown man entered the business and approached the counter. During the encounter, the suspect implied he had a gun and demanded money. The suspect eventually fled the area without taking any property. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect who was not located. The investigation continues.


Obituaries

John N. Terry. 70, of Dale City, Va. Passed away at home February 26, 2017.
Born May 24, 1946 in Bentree, WV. He was the beloved son of the late Nolen E. and Louise McGraw Terry. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lyle, Leonard and Michael.
John was an Army veteran, retired drywall contractor and he loved cats. His childhood cat, Snoop, rode on his shoulder everywhere he went. He also enjoyed baseball, basketball and hunting with his brothers.
Left to cherish his memory are sisters, Janet Spangler (Wayne) of Ronceverte, WV, Nola Windham (Wendell) of Elizabeth, CO. and Betty J. Allison of Montgomery, WV. He is also survived by very special friends, Deborah Riggin and Carl Clark both of Dale City.

RICHMOND – Gov. Terry McAuliffe wants the General Assembly to reduce from $250 to $100 the fine in legislation that would punish motorists for driving too slowly in the left lane on Virginia highways.

Under current Virginia law, driving in the left lane at less than the normal speed of traffic is illegal except when passing or when it is deemed “otherwise impractical,” but there is no fine for failing to obey the law. House Bill 2201, sponsored by a bipartisan team of legislators including Del. Israel O’Quinn, R-Bristol, Del. Kaye Kory, D-Falls Church, and Sen. Scott Surovell, D-Fairfax, would change that. DALE CITY, Va. — The Wells Fargo Bank branch at on Dale Boulevard, near the intersection of Interstate 95 was robbed this morning.

Police were called to the bank in Dale City about 9:15 a.m., as well as to areas around Ashdale Plaza, and the area around Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center search for the suspect.
