Murder Investigation *MULTIPLE ARRESTS – On February 22, detectives from the Prince William County Homicide Unit, with the assistance from multiple federal and local law enforcement agencies in Pennsylvania, located and apprehended three suspects wanted in connection to the murder of Christian Alexander SOSA RIVAS.

The victim’s body was located along the shoreline of the Potomac River on January 13. After determining that the suspects were directly involved in the victim’s murder, information was received which indicated they were in the Newtown Township area of Pennsylvania. Prince William County police detectives with local assistance from the Newtown Township Police Department, Upper Merion Township Police Department, Haverford Township Police Department and the Marple Township Police Department, and with federal assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force successfully located and arrested the three suspects, one of which was identified as a juvenile. Osbourn High School (OHS) yearbook student R’ Asya Philbert has been recognized in a national Quill and Scroll contest. The OHS senior was one of 297 winners nationwide in the 2016 Yearbook Excellence Contest. Her winning entry, “Senior Ads,” in the contest’s Advertising division earned her a spot among 36 Sweepstakes winners, and the opportunity to apply for Quill and Scroll journalism scholarships.

From the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission:

The Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) Board of Commissioners voted February 9 to submit the agency’s proposed FY18 budget to its six member jurisdictions for their consideration. The member jurisdictions are Prince William, Stafford and Spotsylvania Counties and the Cities of Manassas, Manassas Park and Fredericksburg.

RICHMOND – Both the House and Senate have unanimously approved a bill that would change the legal description of a “dangerous dog” and possibly put fewer animals on a state registry.

HB 2381 cleared the Senate, 40-0, on Tuesday after winning approval in the House on Feb. 6. The bill now goes to Gov. Terry McAuliffe for his signature. (more…)

“Malicious Wounding *ARRESTS & ADDITIONAL SUSPECT IDENTIFIED – On February 18, detectives from the Robbery Unit obtained warrants for a sixth suspect, identified as Devaun Andrew JENKINS, involved in a home invasion which occurred at a residence located in the 7900 block of Deward Ct in Manassas on January 22. On February 21, Tyreek VINING and Deangelo ROBERTSON turned themselves into police without incident. Attempts to located Rashad THOMPSON have still been unsuccessful.

GOODBYE HAWKEYE: It is with heavy hearts we announce that Retired K9 Hawkeye passed away this past weekend. Hawkeye served a distinguished career from 2006 – 2015, along with his partner Master Police Officer Bill VanAntwerp. Hawkeye passed peacefully, with his family by his side. He was 13 years old.

From Prince William police: 

Fatal Crash Investigation – On February 18 at 5:45PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 14900 block of Deepwood Ln in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a crash involving an ATV. The investigation revealed that the victim, identified as an 8-year-old boy, was riding a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie 650 without a parent’s knowledge or permission when he lost control and struck a tree. The victim was flown to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries on February 21. The victim was not wearing a helmet.
