From Prince William police: 

Sexual Assault Investigation – On February 22, detectives from the Special Victim’s Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a home [near] Manassas. The investigation revealed that the victim, an 11-year-old girl, was inappropriately touched on more than one occasion by the accused, an acquaintance, since November 2016. The victim disclosed the incidents to a family member who notified police. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

The Bull Run Civil War Round Table in Centreville, Va. offers a $1,500 scholarship to a high school senior who resides in Fairfax or Prince William County and will attend college in the fall of 2017.

The applicant can be from a public or private school and plans to attend a college or community college. The deadline is April 1.

Republican delegates on Wednesday are expected to designate Majority Leader Kirk Cox as the next speaker of the House, following William Howell’s decision to retire. Republican House members will caucus to select Cox, a retired government teacher from Colonial Heights, as the speaker-in-waiting, according to reports published by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Washington Post and other news outlets.

From Stafford County Sheriff’s Office:

“Stafford, VA. On February 19, 2017 Deputy Vernon Galyen responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Valero located at 620 Cambridge Street. When he arrived at the location, he observed a male subject sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that was parked at the pumps. He also observed the subject was slouched over onto the passenger seat. There was a white powdery substance on his face and his eyes were closed. (more…)
