Eunice Virginia Johnson, age 85, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Virginia, as she was known to all, loved her family and her Lord. Virginia accepted Christ and was baptized at AME Methodist Church at a very young age. Along with her sisters she was a part of a gospel group formed by their uncle called the four lilies. She was educated in the Chestertown, Maryland public school system. Having been married to a military man she loved to travel and has lived in Hawaii, Texas, and Germany. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, crocheting, playing video games and horse racing. She was known as Mom to her grandchildren and as Nonni to her great grandchildren. She had worked as a nursing assistant.

Allan George Thorpe Sr. (82), of Dumfries VA, passed away peacefully on 6 June 2017 at 9:14 AM. Born 1 July 1934 in Bethel Town, Jamaica to Edwin and Vida Thorpe.

He is survived by his children Allan Jr., Ann Marie, Drew and Sandra; Grandchildren Britney, Devin and Serena, Sisters Phyllis, Hyacinth, Winifred and countless other family members.

A 15-question trivia quiz turned out to be the star of the evening at an annual taste of the town dinner for Literacy Volunteers of America – Prince William.

The questions ranged from “Before they were the Potomac Nationals, what team was the Prince William Cannons affiliated with?” to “what do you call a word that has two meanings?”

From Prince William police: 

Armed Robbery – On June 7 at 3:41AM, officers responded to the 7-11 convenient store located at 13050 Nokesville Rd in Nokesville (20181) to investigate a robbery. An employee of the business reported to police that an unknown man entered the store, brandished a gun, and took an undisclosed amount of money before leaving the business on foot. A police K-9 searched for the suspect who was not located. There were no injuries reported.

Doris L. Sexton Henderson went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, June 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born February 1, 1928 in Volney, Virginia to the late Earl and Eva Mae Sexton. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rhonda Sue Henderson Etheridge, sister’s, Nannie Lou Cox, and Billie Ruth Cox.
