Malicious Wounding *ARREST– On April 15, Dashawn Lamar MOORE-TAYLOR, wanted for an assault which occurred in the area of Neabsco Rd and Jefferson Davis Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) on March 29, 2016, was located and arrested in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

From Prince William police: 

Abduction | Assault & Battery – On April 17 at 8:17AM, officers responded to investigate an assault which occurred at a residence located in the 13400 block of Orchard Dr in Woodbridge (22191) earlier that morning. The victim, a 25-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was in the kitchen when the accused, an acquaintance, grabbed her from behind and attempted to take her towards his bedroom. The victim was eventually able to break free and go to her bedroom. The accused then left the residence and the victim later contacted police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Miguel Angel GRANADOS. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Effective Tuesday, April 18 at 6 a.m., people who need access to emergency services at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC) will have to use the main entrance of the hospital. The existing entrance will be under renovation from April 18 to the end of June. The campus will have signs to help direct patients and visitors to the main entrance. On Sunday, April 16th at 12:17 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a townhouse fire located in the 10100 block of Sabin Drive in Manassas. Upon arrival, fire and rescue crews observed fire in the rear of a three-story mid-row townhouse. A second alarm was sounded as the fire extended into the home and into the roof. Firefighters initiated an attack on the fire and quickly extinguished it.

No injuries reported.


Obituaries

Gerald "Jake" Hammersley; born December 4, 1951 in Washington D.C. passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday April 14th at Fairfax Hospital after complications from congestive heart failure and pneumonia.

Jake, as he was know as by many friends & family is the son of Chancelor and Alma Hammersley. He is survived by his wife of 38 years; Molly Hammersley, his daughter Heather Bloomquist and his son in law Brent Bloomquist

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Tom Perriello spent an hour and a half defending positions he once took as a Virginia Congressman, trying to convince Democratic voters that he’s changed his ways.

The Democrat who is running against current Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam in a June 13 Primary Election took center stage at the Southlake Community Center in Montclair on Friday night. He laid out a vision for the state that entails free two-year tuition for community college students, expanding Medicare, more school funding, and raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Teresa Faye Ferguson was born December 3, 1955 in Fredericksburg VA . She was a graduate of Gar-field High School and Northern Virginia Community College in Woodbridge VA . Teresa worked for the Division of Motor Vehicles for 28 years .

Teresa is survived by her loving parents Clyde and Loretta Ferguson; Four sisters , Belinda Carol Belles , Debra Loretta Carter , Clydia Darlene Borkovich and Tracey Allyn Via . She joins her brother Clyde Cecil Ferguson Jr who passed away in 1977 . Teresa is also survived by her nephews Roger Le Embrey , Brian Keith Embrey , Michael Wade Embrey , Clayton Ferguson Embrey , Stacy Monroe Carter, Jason Darrell Dotson , Robby Via , Justin Via and three nieces Jennifer Carter Gill , Amie Dotson Melyssa Anne Marie Dotson . She was a loving aunt to eleven great nieces and nephews .
