Michael Lee Damon, age 66, of Manassas, VA, passed away on May 29, 2017. Beloved husband of 41 years to Wanda Damon. Loving father of Amanda Damon and Andrew Damon. Dear brother of Cathy Mosser (Gary) and Debra Butler. Cherished uncle of Jacob Mosser, Brenda Mosser, Tara Cahoon (Thomas). Great uncle of Maggie, Hayden, Tucker, and Lexie Cahoon. Son-in-law of Glynn and Betty Plybon. Brother-in-law of Arlene Plybon. He was the devoted son of the late Howard "Lee" Damon and Margaret "Peggy" Damon.

Mike was a graduate of Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. He worked for Safeway Foods for over 40 years. His generosity and kindness had no limits. His love of a good cigar and bourbon was exceeded only by his love for family and friends. He found his greatest joy in knowing others were enjoying life as much as he did. Mike was a member of Prince of Peace United Methodist Church.


Obituaries

Scott Bartosch, 51, of Stafford, known as “Chip” to friends and family, died early morning, May 29, 2017.

Chip is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Bartosch. He leaves behind four children: Michael Bartosch, Elizabeth Bartosch Vanderhoof, Matthew Bartosch and Emily Bartosch, and three sweet grandchildren.

Prince William County must have 340 school buses retrofitted.

The brake interlock system was missing from these buses sold to the school division after March 24, 2011. The interlock stops accidental engagement of the bus’ transmission by requiring the driver to step on the brake before releasing the bus’ parking brake.

From Prince William police:

“Fatal Crash Investigation *ADDITIONAL CHARGES – On May 12, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit determined that alcohol and drugs were factors in a single vehicle fatal crash which occurred in the area of Token Valley Rd near Gandall Ct in Manassas on December 24. Following the investigation, investigators obtained additional charges for the driver of the vehicle involved, identified as Jesse James WYRICK. The accused was served the additional charges on May 13, and remains incarcerated at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center where he was being held on unrelated charges.

Monika Christine Mattson, 81, of Gainesville, VA, passed away May 31st, 2017 at Betty’s Place, Inc. in Manassas, VA.

Born December 18, 1935 in Munich, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Ursula Henkel and step-daughter to Vera Henkel. On April 25th, 1967 at the National Cathedral, she married Jon Mattson, who survives.
