Boaman Thomas (SCPO, USN, Ret.), age 78, of Dale City, VA, passed away on June 4, 2017. Father of Cynthia Hawkins (William), Paul T. Thomas (Kim) and Samantha M. Carlisle. Cherished grandfather of Elijah Hawkins, Noah Hawkins, Gabriel Kalen Thomas, Ileea Thomas, Dannetta Thomas, and Schelene Thomas. Brother of Ross Thomas. Uncle of Sonya Thomas. He is the great grandfather to a host of grandchildren and great uncle to a niece and nephew. Boaman was preceded in death by his daughter, Chrystal Thomas.

Boaman proudly served our country for over 20 years in the United States Navy, where he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his military service he earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Baptist College in Charleston, SC. Afterwards, Boaman taught electronic technology at Control Data Institute in Philadelphia, PA and the Washington, D.C. prison facility in Lorton, VA. In retirement Boaman was a computer techie. He loved to use and enjoy the newest and best gadgets on the market.

Nannie Gilman was born on December 30, 1919 and passed away on June 5, 2017 at 4 PM at Birmingham Green Nursing Home, Manassas, VA, following a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by Mother Elle Gilman; Father Hei Gilman; Grandfather Big Jim Gilman, Brothers Ray, Basil, Archie, Little Hei, Jim and Bear; Sister and Brother-in-Law Vickie and Johnny Parsons; Sister-in-Law Grace Gilman, Nephew Donald Ray Gilman and Niece Linda Gilman.

Mary Ellen Wright, age 82, of Fairfax, VA, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2017. Beloved husband of over 56 years to Elden Harvey Wright (Col, USA, Ret.) Loving mother of William Harvey "Bill" Wright (Shellie Bingham). Cherished grandmother of Isabelle Marie and Benjamin Michael Bingham-Wright. Dear sister of Reverend Conrad G. Crow (Carolyn) and adored aunt to his children, Terri Knight and Marshall and Charles Crow. She was the daughter of the late Osler Gilbert and Myrtle Lenore Crow.

Mary Ellen was born in Bluefield, WV, graduated Valedictorian at Beaver High School, and received her degree in Chemistry at Auburn University, of which she was a fervent life-long alumnus. She also received a post-graduate Medical Technology certification at the Medical College of Richmond (now VCU) and worked as a research chemist for the University of Tennessee. Mary Ellen traveled the world with her family, as Elden served our country in the United States Army. Mary Ellen and Elden were inseparable, where there was one, the other was right there. She was a devoted member of the Providence Presbyterian Church, where she worked and volunteered for many years and was also the longest serving member of the choir. Mary Ellen also participated in many projects with the Fairfax Lions Club, as she stood hand in hand with her husband who is a lifelong member of the organization.

“During their June 6, 2017 meeting, the Occoquan Town Council appointed Interim Chief of Police and Town Sergeant Adam Linn to permanently fill the position. Chief Linn, a 15-year law enforcement veteran, has been serving as the Town’s Interim Chief/Town Sergeant since December of last year upon the retirement of previous Chief Sheldon Levi. Chief Linn first joined the Town of Occoquan in February 2016 as an Auxiliary Police Officer.
