John Kenneth Holtzman, 61 of Stafford VA died at Virginia Hospital Center on Friday, October 13, 2017. He was born in the District of Columbia on February 16, 1956 to the late John and Hallie Snyder Holtzman.

John was a truck driver by trade, and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and watching college football “ROLL TIDE”. His true passion in life was being a devoted family man to wife, children, and grandchildren.

Dianne Elizabeth (Thibodeau) Parisi, 69, passed away unexpectedly at her Bristow home on Friday, October 13, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Salvatore Parisi. Born in October 15, 1947, Diane was the dear daughter of the late Joseph & Doris Thibodeau. She was raised and educated in Rhode Island. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island.

Dianne was a research analyst for many years for the CIA until her retirement. She enjoyed working as a volunteer at the Prince William Hospital Thrift Center. When not working, she found joy in reading, traveling and the cherished times spent with family.

Lloyd E. “Gene” Griffin, Sr., age 79 of Bristow, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 13, 2017.

Born and raised in Shelley, Idaho, a longtime resident of Virginia, he was a retired welder and former owner of Park Place Restaurant. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 3 brothers and a sister.

Elaine Ann Ahern, age 70 of Manassas, VA died on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. She is survived by her loving husband Michael F. Ahern; her sons Sean D. Ahern and wife Jennifer and Kevin C. Ahern and wife Alison; one sister Rosann Vitti and her six grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Jonathan, Daniel, Eden and Levi. The family will receive friends at Pierce Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12975 Purcell Road, Manassas, VA 20112. Interment at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities of the Arlington Diocese.

She was born on September 5, 1957 in Washington, DC the daughter of the late Clair and Genevieve (Snyder) Shaffer.

“Today, 30 new Virginia State Police troopers reported to their respective Division Headquarters to begin the final phase of their training. The 126th Basic Session celebrated their graduation Friday (Oct. 6, 2017), at the state police Academy in North Chesterfield County. Upon receiving their diplomas, the new troopers finished a rigorous 29-week training session. They received instruction in more than 100 different subjects spanning hundreds of hours. Academy training includes such areas as crime scene investigation, survival Spanish, judicial procedures, self- defense, cultural diversity and firearms.
