From police: 

Brandishing of a Firearm – On September 25 at 4:20PM, officers responded to the Cheesecake Factory located at 2708 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a brandishing. The investigation revealed that an unknown male was involved in a verbal altercation with a restaurant employee.

DUMFRIES — Police in Dumfries will receive a donation of emergency equipment from Firehouse Subs during a special ceremony on Thursday. 

The town is one of the multiple jurisdictions that received donations of equipment from the restaurant chain A dedication ceremony will take place at a Firehouse Subs at 13305 Worth Avenue in Woodbridge at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5.

The music in this choral concert captures the heart and soul of the American spirit through patriotic tunes and songs from the heartland. Joining the chorus are dancers from Dance Etc. School of the Arts and accompaniment from the talented members of Legacy Brass.

This family friendly and FREE event is perfect for young and old. Kids, parents, and grandparents will be familiar with many of the songs in this inspirational program. There are two opportunities to attend: Saturday, May 2 at 7:30 pm or Sunday, May 3 at 3:30 p.m.


Obituaries

Clarence Benjamin Taylor, 84, of Manassas, passed at his home on Friday, September 29, 2017, surrounded by family.

Command Sergeant Major Taylor was a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army, who served with the famed 11th ACR (Black Horse) in Vietnam (1968-1969). He was a lifelong member of the NCOA and the AUSA. He was an avid runner and cyclist who enjoyed working on his own car, reading and talking about current events with his children and grandchildren.

In 1991, Dr. Gail Kettlewell, Provost of Northern Virginia Community College, had a vision for a new orchestra in Manassas and Prince William County. This orchestra, originally called the NOVA-Manassas Community Orchestra, began performing at Grace United Methodist Church in 1992. Over the years the orchestra has grown in both size and stature. In 2010, the ensemble moved into its new home in the Hylton Performing Arts Center, and was renamed the Manassas Symphony Orchestra in 2011.
