RICHMOND – The affluent suburbs of Northern Virginia are the healthiest communities in the state, and lower-income localities, especially in the southern and western parts of the commonwealth, have the most serious health problems, according to a recent study.

STAFFORD — Despite pleas from housing developers, Stafford County leaders made significant changes to the county’s cluster ordinance.

Afer two hours of public comment, mostly from housing developers, the Board of Supervisors to amend its ordinance and will now confine all new cluster developments to about 19,000 undeveloped acres in and around the county’s urban service area (USA) located largely along Interstate 95, and the Route 610 and 17 corridors.

STAFFORD — Stafford County leaders on Tuesday slashed by 60% the number of acres on which housing developers could build “cluster” developments. 

The Board of Supervisors voted to restrict all new cluster developments to the county’s urban service area, meaning that 80% all new development in the county would occur on a tract of land largely located along Interstate 95, bounded roughly to the west by Kellogg Mill, Mountain View, and Joshua roads to the west, and Brooke Road to the east.

From VDOT: 

Work to reconfigure slug lines and create new bus-only travel lanes at the Pentagon Reservation’s South Parking Lot “Pork Chop,” located east of Eads Street and north of I-395, will begin on or about Monday, March 19. Pedestrians and motorists should exercise caution while traveling in the area.
