DUMFRIES — Police officers in Dumfries could go from having seven bosses to one.
The Dumfries Town Council wants to hear from the public on just who should command the town’s police force.

WOODBRIDGE — (Press Release) It’s that time of year, time for our Annual TASTE OF THE TOWN: Home Sweet Home Dinner.
This year’s event will be held on October 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the VFW Post 1503, 14371 Minnieville Road, Dale City. OCCOQUAN— Bann Thai Old Town opened its doors on September 9 in the Occoquan. This new Thai restaurant offers dine-in, carry-out, catering, and delivery for a five-mile radius from the restaurant.
This is owner Nalinrat Pienthumdee’s first restaurant. She partnered with a very experienced chef to bring authentic Thai food to Northern Virginia. Chef Tang has over ten years of experience as a chef.
DUMFRIES — (Press Release) Fatal Crash Investigation *UPDATE – Following an autopsy completed yesterday regarding the pedestrian struck and killed in the area of Fraley Blvd near Graham Park Rd in Dumfries on September 18, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit believe the victim may have been struck by two separate vehicles. Parts of a vehicle recovered from the scene have indicated that one of the vehicles possibly involved was a 2014-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The victim was not near a designated crosswalk when he was initially located lying in the roadway by a County Park Ranger. The driver of the blue vehicle observed by the Park Ranger was further described to be a white male in his 30’s. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Prince William County Police at 703-792-6500.
Fatal Crash Investigation [Previously Released] – On September 18 at 7:34PM, investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the area of Fraley Blvd near Graham Park Rd in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a County Park Ranger was traveling northbound on Fraley Blvd when a man was observed lying in the middle of the roadway. The County Park Ranger pulled off to the side of the road to check on the man’s welfare. At that time, a white male driver of a blue vehicle, traveling northbound, struck the pedestrian. The striking vehicle initially stopped before proceeding northbound. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. Investigators are working to determine why the pedestrian was lying the roadway prior to the collision and to identify the driver of the striking vehicle. Alcohol appears to be a factor. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact Prince William County Police at 703-792-6500.
STAFFORD — (Press Release) The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin a drainage pipe replacement project next month on Route 616 (Poplar Road) in Stafford County.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 1, Poplar Road will close between Stony Hill Road and Mack Lane to allow crews to remove a deteriorated metal pipe from underneath the roadway and install a new plastic pipe.
STAFFORD — Fire and rescue crews in Stafford County spent their afternoon rescuing four people.
The victims were pulled to safety after their canoes flipped.

STAFFORD — Stafford County’s new economic development director, John Holden has a big vision for what the county will become under his direction.
Hired this summer, Holden worked as a chief economic director in localities in Maine and Ohio before coming to Virginia. He has 25 years of experience, and he says his newest role will be his biggest challenge yet.
