PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) The Service Authority will be conducting a non-emergency repair of a water main just north of the Rte. 234 exit ramp off Interstate 66 in Manassas this weekend.

The repair, which will improve service reliability in the drinking water distribution system, will necessitate the closure of the ramp onto northbound Rte. 234 from early Saturday evening until early Sunday afternoon.

MANASSAS — A three-year city and school funding plan which includes an estimated tax rate increase of nine cents is on the table for the full council to vote on.

The plan includes an increase of the city allocation to Manassas City public schools of 2.625% annually over the next three years. The cost is estimated at roughly three cents added to the tax rate per year for three years, which is a total of nine cents once fully implemented.

DUMFRIES — Dumfries leaders welcomed residents into their new town hall.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new building at 17739 Main Street, which is located next to the old town hall building that also contains the Jeff Simpson Community Center. The town owns both buildings and, for the first time, is a landlord renting space to multiple non-profit organizations co-located with it inside the new town hall, to include the Greater Prince William Community Health Center.

MANASSAS – (Press Release) On December 4 at 2:30PM, officers responded to the Prince William County Tax Administration Office located at 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a bomb threat made by phone.

Staff reported to police that a woman, later identified as the accused, called the office upset over a tax issue involving her vehicle. During the conversation, the accused threatened to bomb the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office. No specific DMV office was identified during the call. Officers attempted to locate the accused at her home in Manassas.


PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) On December 4 at 10:29PM, officers responded to investigate a robbery that was reported to have occurred in the area of Jefferson Davis Hwy and Cardinal Dr in Woodbridge (22191). The victim, a 28-year-old man, reported to police that he was waiting for a bus in the above area when two unknown men approached him. During the encounter, the men demanded the victim’s property. One of the men was armed with knife and struck the victim in the face. The men took the victim’s property before fleeing on foot. Minor injuries were reported. A police K-9 searched for the suspects who were not located. The victim was only able to describe one of the suspects to officers. The investigation continues.

STAFFORD — Stafford County was founded in 1664. It is rich with the history of the Patawomeck tribe, revolutionary figures, civil war battles, and much more. However, despite a deep historical background, Stafford County does not have a museum.

In a document county officials refer as a 2040 Vision and Strategic Plan, the Board of Supervisors has expressed the desire to start planning and building a Stafford County Museum and Cultural Center.

WOODBRIDGE — Restoring the old proffer system sits atop the legislative agenda in Prince William County.

In a contentious dinner meeting on Tuesday, The Board of Supervisors met with members of the county’s General Assembly delegation and demanded that they work to repeal drastically change a 2016 law that limits the county’s ability to ask housing developers for conditional zonings (known as proffers), to include the gifting of land for new schools and transportation improvements.

STAFFORD — There are new delays in Stafford County’s effort to expand bike and walking trails in the county.

Leaders late last month once again approved an extension to allow staff to prolong to February 19 the study period for the planned bike and pedestrian trails throughout Stafford.  


WOODBRIDGE — (Press Release) On December 1 at 4:20PM, officers responded to the Target located at 2460 Prince William Pkwy in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a fight in front of the business.

The investigation revealed that a vehicle was illegally parked in the fire lane in front of the business when a second vehicle approached the vehicle parked in the fire lane and began honking its horn.
