WOODBRIDGE — Silver Sparkles, an annual family fun day to raise funds and awareness for Brain Tumor and Brain Cancer research, will be back at Competitive Edge Athletic Performance Center in Woodbridge on March 2.
To date, the event has raised nearly $40,000 for brain cancer research, while having a great time doing it.

MANASSAS — Manassas has finished the initial stages for its Comprehensive Plan for 2040 and is now headed into technical studies by the Planning Commission’s Comprehensive Plan Committee over the next few months.
Eventually, the plan will go before the City Council for direction and ultimately adoption.
RICHMOND — Over 5,000 child care facilities around the state must start testing their drinking water for lead or use bottled water under a bill approved by the Virginia Senate.
SB 1622, introduced by Sen. Jeremy McPike, D-Prince William, would require licensed child care facilities and other programs that serve preschoolers to implement a plan to test their potable water to ensure lead levels do not exceed 15 parts per billion.
RICHMOND — Virginia’s General Assembly hopes to address rising college tuition costs by offering public universities incentives to cap tuition rates and ensuring that the public can comment on proposed tuition increases.
State budget amendments proposed by the House Appropriations Committee include an additional $45 million in funding for universities that decide not to raise tuition.

Ridership on OmniRide express commuter buses fell 15.6 percent from January 1st through the 25th. That comes to a loss of 788 passengers per day and resulted in the loss of $5,169 per day in fare revenue.
