The Republican during the campaign defended calls to leave standing Confederate statues in public squares to at a time when many were calling on local governments to take them down and mothball them in storage units or relocate them to National Parks.


MANASSAS — (Press Release) Here’s the latest police from Manassas police.

Upon arrival officers located an adult female suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim, who was identified as a 26-year-old resident of Manassas, was flown to a local area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

MANASSAS — The city council and school board have reached a temporary funding agreement for the fiscal year of 2020 that includes a 3 percent increase to Manassas City Public Schools.

WOODBRIDGE — Under new rules adopted Tuesday, Prince William County may use public funds to incentivize economic development projects.

Property developers could now find themselves eligible for county funds to buy property to advance a project like a new office building. The funds could be used to buy property on which “modest homes” sit, as suggested by Potomac District Supervisor Maureen Caddigan. Once purchased, those homes would be cleared for larger commercial projects.

MANASSAS — A Manassas City Councilman says he’s made an offer to the state to settle a federal tax lien claiming he owes nearly a quarter million dollars in back taxes.

New court documents dated Jan. 28, 2019 claim Councilman Mark D. Wolfe to be in arrears in $22,286 back property taxes owed to the city.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press Release) On Thursday, February 7, at 9 a.m., the Department of Fire and Rescue will hold its graduation ceremony for Recruit Class 2018-2 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. Battalion Chief Chris Granger will preside over the ceremony. Class 2018-2 consists of Fire and Rescue Technicians who successfully completed 29 weeks of rigorous academic and physical training at the Department’s Public Safety Training Center in Nokesville, Virginia. Each student performed in excess of 1,392 hours of training.

The training consisted of 1 week of Orientation/Study Skills/Health, Nutrition and Fitness, eight weeks of Emergency Medical Training, 15 weeks of Fire Training, and five weeks of Specialized Training. The Department will announce the following graduates:

STAFFORD — (Press Release) Crystal Vanuch, a lifelong conservative and resident of Stafford, accepts Supervisor Wendy Maurer’s endorsement to run for the position of Rock Hill Supervisor.

Vanuch, 35, is a proud resident in the Rock Hill District. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Stafford County Planning Commission.  She is President and CEO of a successful public affairs firm based in Stafford, Virginia. Vanuch graduated Magna Cum Laude from Virginia Wesleyan University with a degree in Business.  The general election is scheduled to take place on November 5th, 2019.
