PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — A fire broke out in the 8,000 block of Browns Lane at 1:05 a.m.
The Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department provided us with this information:
NORTH STAFFORD — There is very little left of a house on Moss Drive.
Fire and rescue crews were called at 11:43 p.m. to the house at 15 Moss Drive in North Stafford’s Vista Woods neighborhood.
WOODBRIDGE — There was an uncommon display of solidarity on the Prince William County School Board this year: Its proposed fiscal year 2020 budget was passed unanimously with little debate.
Prince William County School Board Chairman At-large Dr. Babur Lateef presented its 2020 budget to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, which fund the schools with an annual automatic budget transfer of 57% of its total budget.
STAFFORD — Property owners in Stafford County could see a $120 increase in their property tax if some county leaders have their way April 16.
That’s when the Stafford County Board of Supervisors is set to approve its fiscal year 2020 tax rate. Currently set at .99 cents per every $100 of assessed property value, the proposed rate is $1.03 per every $100.
LAKE RIDGE — Residents are going to get a look more than 30 years into the past with the opening of a buried time capsule.
The plaque noting the capsule buried at Tackett’s Mill Center, on May 29, 1969, states that day was the day Lake Ridge was established. Today, the neighborhood of homes and shops spans the five-mile distance of Old Bridge Road between Interstate 95 and Prince William Parkway
Victor Angry appears to have made history tonight by becoming the first African American elected to the Prince William County Board of Supervisors in the board’s 150-year history.
