WOODBRIDGE — A good labor market has to lead to bad service when it comes to hauling away trash from homes and businesses.

Since February, Prince William County’s Solid Waste Division has received 20 reports of missed collection by American Disposal for trash and recycling pickups from residents in the Manassas area, Woodbridge, Nokesville, and Gainesville.

WASHINGTON – Residents from a Lake Ridge senior affordable housing community joined the Senior Housing Now rally to protect seniors’ housing rights.

Residents from Fellowship Square urged Congress to protect housing and subsidies for seniors at the U.S. Capitol lawn last week. About 100 Fellowship Square residents from other locations in  Northern Virginia and Maryland, and by hundreds of other seniors and senior advocates, asking Congress to expand funding for these programs.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — OmniRide College Passes for the summer semester are coming soon to students of Northern Virginia Community College.

The College Pass is the result of a collaboration between OmniRide and Northern Virginia Community College Woodbridge and Manassas (NOVA) campuses and will be available for $35 to any student with a valid college ID card.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The Prince William County Animal Shelter is encouraging everyone to take photos of an animal friend and submit them to the shelter’s photo contest.

The “Summer Fun with Animal Friends” photo contest is taking place between May 22 and June 1. You may submit your photo entries during regular shelter hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY –– One man was killed and three others were injured in a crash near Manassas.

Prince William police were called to the area of Sudley Manor Drive and Seymour Road at 9:29 p.m. to investigate a crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2014 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Seymour Road approaching Sudley Manor Drive.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — Nokesville will hold its annual Nokesville Day Parade on Saturday, May 19.

All the event’s activities will be found on Fitzwater Drive and will be suitable for both kids and adults. Those activities will include craft vendors, food vendors, and children’s activities such as moon bounces and face painting.
