Prince William County, which has the largest of the school divisions in the Potomac Local coverage area with 92,000 students, is headed back to school today.
Buses will pick up some 62,000 students and travel some 56,000 miles in the county. Those yellow, flashing lights to indicate school speed zone limits will also flash once again for the first time since June.
STAFFORD — (Press Release) The Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board (R-Board) will temporarily waive fees for the disposal of yard debris from residents beginning today August 21, 2019 through September 1, 2019, at the Regional Landfill at Eskimo Hill.
The Stafford and Fredericksburg area served by the Regional Landfill has experienced recent violent thunderstorms with high winds, causing many trees and limbs to fall. The R-Board wants to assist residents with clean-up activities.

Prince William County announced it’s now home to five million square feet of data center space.
The new centers are popping up in the western portion of the county, many of them opening with little or no fanfare, opting to keep their locations as private as possible. So far, we’ve seen data center spring up off Prince William Parkway near Gainesville, off Route 55 in Haymarket, as well as new construction for data centers occurring now on Hornbaker Road near Manassas, as well as near the Manassas Regional Airport.
Labor Day will mean all of the regular lane closures for road work will be lifted across the state starting at noon Friday.
So, between now and then, here are some area lane closures to watch out for leading up to the holiday weekend.
CENTERVILLE — One person is dead after a car collided with a tractor-trailer and then hit a jersey wall and then caught fire.
At 10:58 a.m. Saturday (Aug.24), Virginia State Police were called to a multi-vehicle crash in Fairfax County. The crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Interstate 66 east of Exit 53, at Route 28.
