We’re set to find out who won the “Small Shop Showdown” on Monday.

The contests sought entries from entrepreneurs who had big ideas for businesses but needed a little help, and some retail space inside Spoyslvania Towne Center, to get them going.


Prince William

Police in Prince William County say they’ve arrested a 15-year-old and charged him in a commercial burglary.

On Wednesday, January 29, officers were tipped off to a burglary at IDEAL Towing, located at 10619 Dumfries Road. They said the burglary occurred sometime between 5 p.m. January 27 and 6 p.m. January 28.


Schools

For the first time in its school’s history, Osbourn High School has created an indoor drumline. A group of 16 students in the Manassas high school, from grades 7 to 12, all bonded this year through a passion for percussion.

Drumline students have been spending most weekday evenings practicing, spending hours rehearsing to perfect a performance that will last just five minutes. Some of their weekends have been sacrificed to fundraise to cover the cost of purchasing equipment, drum sticks, mallets, props, and purchase uniforms, said band mom and spokeswoman Erica Washington.


News

The Rappahannock River near Interstate 95 is open to boaters once again — at least for now.

The river channel that passes underneath the Rappahannock Falls Bridge that carries I-95 traffic over the waterway has is now open for recreational traffic. Prior today, boaters had to use a portage that was put into place in December 2019 to get to the water.
