The Route 3 Business bridge over the Rappahannock River, also known as Chatham Bridge, will close to traffic for an improvement project beginning on Monday, June 22.

The bridge connecting Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg will close to traffic at approximately 5 a.m. Monday, June 22.

As the sun rose, Fredericksburg removed the controversial slave auction block.

Crews went to work earlier to remove the concrete block that has been at the corner of Willaim and Charles streets since 1847. The auction block has been the subject of much debate and controversy over the years with many demanding for its removal from public view.

Prince William County residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to celebrate National Waste and Recycling Workers Week, from June 14-20, 2020, according to Deborah Campbell, a communications analyst in a media release. Formerly known as “National Garbage Man Day”, the idea came from John Arwood, an owner of a waste and recycling collection company in Florida.
