A message board that reads “Vote #TeamHaymarket” has stirring up debate about what type of campaign signs are allowed in the town.
Haymarket resident Rebecca Smith originally posted a photo of the message board to Facebook, alleging the sign’s presence at the corner of Washington and Jefferson streets is a violation of Haymarket Town Ordinance 58-15.5(h) which prohibits electronic message boards.
While the rest of the commonwealth may be easing restrictions, localities north of the Chopawamsic Creek, to include Prince William County, will remain under a stay-at-home order.
That means non-essential businesses like churches, spas, barbershops, and entertainment venues like bowling alleys will remain closed. In Stafford County and points south, Virginia residents will begin the first phase of the governor’s plan to reopen the economy, called “safer at home.”

A man pulled a gun on a 13-year-old boy during an argument, police said.
The event occurred on Thursday, May 11, at 5:04 p.m. when police arrived to investigate a domestic situation located at 9800 block of McGill Court near Manassas, according to a Prince William County Police press release. Police say that an argument between a boy, 13, and the suspect, a 37-year-old family member, turned violent when the suspect hit the teen multiple times before slamming him into the wall.

In Richmond, Virginia State Parks are working toward a goal to reopen campgrounds for Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 22 to Monday, May 25. The announcement comes as part of the state’s phase one reopening strategy that begins Friday, May 15, following the coronavirus outbreak.

May 11 – 17 is American Craft Beer Week. It is a time to brew up beer lover support for small and independent breweries, providing a boost in excitement for the beer community just when it is needed most, according to a Visit Prince William, Virginia press release.
