Manassas Police Chief Douglas Keen stood before the city council Monday night, about 24 hours after a peaceful protest turned into a riot.
There, he explained how nearly 200 rioters chased him and his officers, pinning them down in the Battery Heights neighborhood just off Signal Hill Road.

Manassas is about to recognized by the CDC as a coronavirus hotspot.
A new report to be released by the CDC will note the Prince William Health District, and specifically the zip code of 20110, as a region with the highest number of coronavirus cases in the state, according to city manager Pat Pate, who announced this during tonight’s meeting of the city council.

One man faces charges after a window of a car was smashed during a protest on the Cambridge Street (Falmouth) Bridge on Monday, sending shattered glass falling on a one-year-old, police said.

Police recently paid a visit to the popular Harold & Cathy’s Dumfries Cafe.
A source told Potomac Local News police were sent to the greasy spoon by order of Dumfries Town Manager Keith Rogers, who wanted to close down the cafe’s outdoor seating because of a zoning violation. The cafe did not have a permit for the outdoor seating which they had set up.
Several big projects are in the work for the landfill through the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board (R-Board) including a new landfill cell, glass recycling program, and wheel wash system.
The R-Board has had an overall drop in revenues for the fiscal year 2020, yet they’re still on-budget since they were ahead of it prior to the coronavirus pandemic taking hold.
Lisamarie Kane will take over as principal of Osbourn Park High School, just outside Manassas, on July 1, 2020.
Kane replaces Neil Beech, who was previously named the principal of the “13th” High School, planned for an opening in Gainesville next year.

Shifts are weekdays, 8 a.m.-Noon or Noon-4 p.m. Duties include receiving bulk food donations, sorting, shelving, and filling smaller orders for shipping to select food distribution locations throughout the area.
